Hey folks. If you live in CO or will be driving your RV around Colorado for Labor Day weekend anyway, why not come to a Blackthorn Project house concert? Some lovely people are hosting us on Saturday night for togetherness, folk, and hopefully some great food and drinks (hint, hint).
The Blackthorn Project house concert
This Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 7:00pm
If you’d like to RSVP or get more information, call Cara at 719-207-2284. It’s $10 per person or whatever you want to donate. Here’s what our host have to say:
“Tim and Laurie Thornton create the fantastic musical duo:The Blackthorn Project. They combine bluegrass, Americana, New Folk and Gospel into a unique homespun sound that can make you both want to dance a jig or cry sweet tears depending on the song. We love their music and are so excited to have them around to share their music with us in a cozy home setting, we want all of you to join us…do not miss this opportunity!”
Seating is limited and there are already 23 confirmed guests, so hesitation leads to defeat. See you there!
One of our goals in 2009 is to eliminate barriers between you and the music we make. There’s lots of good new stuff to come too: we’re working on a full string-section version of the new song “Speak to Me” as we, um, speak. It sounds awesome. But I can’t wait until it’s mixed (hopefully just a few days though) to start giving you those free downloads we’ve been promising.
We just returned form Winter Park where we encountered a worshiping community at Timberline Lodge that got really fired up about music worship. It was so fun to be with folks who began to understand the value of each part of the body, and that when we apply that to worship, we get to be creative and free!
We’re so glad to know the folks at Timberline, and are grateful for Dan and Sarah putting us up in their house. Mary took this photo for us. I think I see Stefan and Spencer back there. I’m not sure who the lovely socks belong to.
In keeping with that theme (creative and free, not lovely socks), we thought we’d give away one of our original songs for worship together, “Spirit of Heaven,” from The Bluing of the Sky. Anyone can download it by clicking on the widget above, and you can pass the files along to your friends.
If you have any issues with downloading, unzipping, or if you experience anything weird or life-changing (like a surge of new worship-leader super-powers), please let us know with a comment on this post and we’ll fix it. Or be happy with you if it’s good.
Hi Folks. Laurie and I are gearing up to head to Fort Collins for some worship together and a house concert with some of our favorite people. If you come, we’re sure they’ll soon be some of yours as well. We’ll be leading worship in the morning for the church that meets at the building with the good coffee inside, then the Freds are opening their house to you for an evening of togetherness, music, and hopefully good refreshments. Did you get that, Darren? Good refreshments. The concert is filling fast, so rsvp now if you want to secure a spot (details below).
If you’re looking for a gathering of real people to journey with you on the Way, these are two good places to find them.

We’ve had several people ask us lately how to host us in their homes around the holidays or into the new year. We developed a quick sheet to let you know just how it normally works, and why it’s such a gift for your circle of influence.

Sound good? It really is that simple. We’re always willing to talk about beyond-the-norm situations and can be creative, so if you’re thinking ‘I’d love to but…..’, well, don’t. What do your friends need more than to have a relaxed, meaningful time together, being themselves and celebrating the highest things?
