“Too Proud” video with Aaron Strumpel

Recorded at Bongo Billy’s Salida Cafe on March 22, 2008, “Too Proud” was written from Psalm 81 by Aaron and the Thorntons. When we read the words, we thought about how akward it is–and how reluctant we sometimes are–to approach the divine, but the glorious miracles that can happen when we approach in belief. I like this song because even if I’m not in a place where I feel like I can sing to God, I can ask “Can you sing over me…?”

Visit theblackthornproject.com where the audio recording of this song is now available on a CD called Fourth Circle. Tim, Laurie, and Aaron collaborated with many other great musicians on the album–it’s in the series of Enter the Worship Circle projects–more at entertheworshipcircle.com. Aaronstrumpel.com will tell you more about the guy with the mic in front of his face. Mysterious.

An amazing song. I began to cry as I listened to this song while driving my car. I literally felt that God was taking the weight from my shoulders. Keep writing straight from the word. A truly inspired wonderful song.
